TradingView Review: Free vs Paid Plans, Key Features, and Pricing

I won’t bore you and go through everything here, I’ll just detail the main buttons you should know about and might want to use. You can create and save as many watch-lists as you want, but you must have a pro account to save more than one. The default watchlist only shows the top-performing assets for each sector, so you’ll need to remove each one to create your own. The objects tree button, right at the bottom, shows a list of all the drawings and indicators on the chart. You can individually hide, delete, and edit each indicator and drawing from this menu.

The middle of the chart, where you can see the price of the currency, is called the chart area. Personally, I don’t use these much – I’m more of a lone wolf type of trader – but they are there if you want to use them. I’ve used Tradingview for 3 years now – made the switch from MT4 back in 2017. So I know all the tips, tricks, and little secrets to using it that’ll help you to get started.

I can set an alert to notify me when an important level is hit and do the rest of my work without needing to monitor my charts. Most traders follow a handful of securities that they like to trade, which allows them to always be trading the best setups. You can easily see how sectors are performing and how the biggest stocks in each sector are moving. I usually check this page an hour after the market opens to get a feel for investor sentiment. TradingView’s charting is unparalleled in its versatility and functionality.

It’s easy to use, packed with amazing features not found on most other platforms, and best of all, completely FREE. Binance has built-in TradingView tools in its exchange UI, allowing users to create charts and trade simultaneously. The tools you see on the left are just a small selection of what’s available and offer a similar experience to TradingView’s website. Instead of constantly switching between assets and charts, most traders will set alerts at key price levels that they want to keep an eye on. Once an alert is hit, you can toggle to the security and wait for an entry/exit. We’re TradingView, a charting platform and social network used by 50M+ traders and investors worldwide to spot opportunities across global markets.

Shapes contains all the shape drawing tools Tradingview provides – and yes, that includes rectangles for S & D zones. And if those don’t tickle your fancy, select the brush tool to draw a freehand shape. The menu shows all the important financials, and you can easily switch between them by clicking the tabs to the left. Click this to reveal a drop-down menu with all the settings for your account.

  1. But without understanding them, it can look a little intimidating.
  2. That’s why it’s used by more than 50 million traders worldwide.
  3. If you want to bring it all back, you easily do so by clicking the button in the top right.
  4. Like all the tabs on the right menu, you can re-size the watch-list box to make it smaller or wider….

Unlike the buttons we’ve already looked at, you probably won’t use these much. Not that useful for us PA traders, but hey, still cool to have. Details does as you’d expect… show you details about whatever you’re trading – no more, no less. So rather than work everything manually, like you normally do, you can just place the tool and move the lines around. With these tools, however, you can quickly mark them without much difficulty.

Adding Indicators to your Chart Layout

They will be prompted to enter their email address, choose a username, and create a password. However, a free account comes with limitations, such as a small balance for paper trading understanding forex and reading forex quotes and restrictions on the number of indicators and chart types available. There is no doubt that TradingView has become an essential tool for members of the Chart Guys Community.

If you decide to draw an uptrend, make sure you start your line using a low price so that the line is underneath your candlestick. To start the tutorial, select the line tool from the left side toolbar. Once you’ve clicked [Settings…] you’ll find yourself in the [Chart settings] window where you can play with a range of options. Customizing colors, lines, and axes makes it easier to read and understand your graphs quickly.

Hello, Trader

Your first port of call after opening a pair, this menu contains all the important options for changing the chart. Change the time-frame, select a different pair, and switch between chart types all from within this menu. For anyone looking for a free solution with a significant amount of tools to use, TradingView is a solid option to explore.

Step 3: Switch To A Candlestick Chart

Currently, the Free plan limits your charts per tab, and number of saved layouts, and restricts access to a variety of the features on the platform. The 3 tabs (black box) show news about the currency, info about its price and let you create your own watch-list. The far-right side (red box) has a bunch of buttons for opening new tabs, most of which are social features, but a few useful ones for trading too. Combining highly advanced charts with a whole suite of social features, Tradingview has cemented itself as one of the top forex charting platforms.

Their educational material is also free to access and easily covers the basics of charting and technical indicators in detail. [Status line] contains options to change the information you’ll find in the top left of the chart, such as OHLC (open, high, low, and close prices) data and buy and sell buttons. The red box shows the lowest ask price (38,345.96), and the blue box the highest bid (38,345.97). Just like you might watch a Twitch stream of your favorite gamer, TradingView Streams let you observe other traders create charts in real-time. It’s a fun extra feature but still in beta, and the amount of content is relatively low.

TradingView offers a basic free tier, but also provides paid subscription plans with additional features and benefits, catering to different users’ needs. TradingView is not just for active traders; investors seeking data-driven insights and analytics can also benefit from the platform’s features. Beginners can benefit from the user-friendly interface, educational resources, and a supportive community where they can learn from experienced traders. Popular indicators such as Moving Averages, Relative Strength Index (RSI), and Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) are essential tools for analyzing market trends. The star of the show, this section of the dashboard shows our charts in all of their glory, customized as much or as little as the heart desires.

Hit the Templates button to save your current chart layout as a template. Select this whenever you open a new chart to instantly have all your studies re-applied with your saved settings. Click the little bar icon to change the chart type, like I showed earlier. Tradingview has few interesting chart types here, like the Renko and Kagi, but the candlestick works best for price action, so stick to that.

Its charting tools are also available to use natively in Binance’s trading UI. Apart from charting, you can also share your trading strategies and live stream your analysis. These tabs contain all the options for viewing charts and conducting analysis. The social community and networking aspect of TradingView is another key strength, enabling users to collaborate, share ideas, and learn from each other.

TradingView certainly does some things very well, but there is also room for improvement. Learning from more experienced traders is one of the fastest ways to level up your trading skills. In the community section, I’ve learned about risk management techniques, trading styles, how to read the macro environment, and more.
