With a high demand for education that is focused on logistics, some schools are creating programs specifically for rank-and-file warehouse employees. The degrees available vary but they all include foundation courses that cover basic concepts, such as operations and supply chain management procurement, transportation, distribution networks storage and inventory management, and business fundamentals. Some universities also offer specializations, including e-commerce and retail logistics, transportation and logistical analysis Global Logistics Management and more.

Graduates are ready to work in positions like supply chain managers and logisticians. They also have the option of working in roles such as purchasing agents industrial production managers, purchasing agents and distribution managers. They can also seek certifications like the Certified Supply Chain Manager or the Certified Public Contract Manager to improve their career prospects.

Consider whether the university content is accredited. This is usually done by a company like the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. These organizations recognize 8,200 institutions and 44,000 programs. Choose a school with an excellent student-teacher ratio, as this will allow you to receive a high-quality education.

Some colleges offer online or hybrid programs, which combine classroom instruction with online learning opportunities. This kind of format is attractive to employees who work on an unstructured schedule and are unable or unwilling to attend traditional classes. Some online-only courses offer associate’s degrees or certificates, while other programs offer bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
